Nuns in FULL HABIT? seriously? and not just for Christmas? Wow. You Papist, you.

do your kids wear - what are they called, scapulars, too?

Well I went to a "Catholic" school with a few old style elderly victorian nuns thrown in for good effect. All I can say is that I am in AWE, I so wish my alma mater was like your son's school, instead of all "feel-good" religion lite, that way I wouldn't have to homeschool my child to ensure a proper education.

Oh yeah, I forgot to mention that at my alma mater, they don't even wear habits anymore--AT ALL!! NOT EVEN ONE of them!! Heck that was what instilled the fear in all of us kids! I have no idea how they keep order these days. From what I keep hearing, appearently they don't.

Oh yes, and one more, (sorry so many), I loved this re-telling. I really laughed my rump off and then I read it to other family members who did the same. From our experience Christmas pagents/plays, are never perfect and that is what makes them so wonderful!

thoroughly enjoyed that.

BabBab - I know! And I didn't choose the school based on that. This just happens to be "my local." NOS sometimes wears a scapular, but most days he wears aftershave now that he has discovered -- even earlier than I did -- girls.
Heather - What's even weirder about these nuns is that they are all young (the principal just turned 40) as opposed to the non-habit-forming-types who all seem to be over 90.
Shula - Me too. So much that I have bruised ribs (from my beloved's elbow-borne promptings to stop it) as proof.

Our Catholic schools are becoming increasingly devoid of nuns, habit wearing or not.
In mass, if I started to laugh, I somehow found it the most satisfying laughter of all. Laughter laced with guilt at the laughter was fantastic.
Reading your account (I can't get over the rosary) I may well have found myself laughing one of those satisfying laughs during this performance.

BMM - Lemme tell ya, that chubby crewcut kid playing St. Gabriel was priceless.
I wanna see him cast as Pontius Pilate at Easter.
