But, Bastille Day was the beginning of decapitating people. The storming of the Bastille was to release the 6 or 7 dangerous psychopaths that poor King Louis has imprisoned without trial. This included the Marquis de Sade (no kidding).

However, any occasion for drinking french champagne and crepes and pastries is a good one as far as I'm concerned! Vive la France! Vive la Republique!
